15 nations, 65 athletes, 182 horses, will take part in the CSIO 5* de France next week during the Longines Jumping International of La Baule (15th - 18th May).

To compose the 8 teams competing in the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup presented by Longines (Belgium, Brazil, Spain, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Netherlands, Switzerland), only 4 riders will be selected by the national coaches (selected riders shall be declared the day before the competition).

The Longines Jumping International of La Baule renews its support to Justworld International


For the second consecutive year, the Longines Jumping International of La Baule, held from May 15 to 18, renews its support of humanitarian organization JustWorld International; an opportunity for the equestrian sport to contribute to the development and education of children living in extreme poverty.

The prestige of the most important French international Jumping event is thus to serve a good cause. “This choice is totally natural,” says Rémi Cléro, President of Longines International Jumping of La Baule.
“We are fortunate to have some success and I think it is important to know to share with others less fortunate. JustWorld is well known in the horse community and supported by equestrians around the world, which fully justifies our support.” Nadia Poirier, Director of the competition, added “To help children build a better future, giving them the chance to grow and thrive is a great project that we want join.”


Founded in 2003 by former equestrian show jumping rider Jessica Newman, JustWorld International is a humanitarian organization, which funds life-changing education,nutrition, health and hygiene, as well as leadership and cultural development programs for impoverished children in Cambodia, Honduras and Guatemala and Colombia. There are currently more than 500 Rider and Technical Official Ambassadors representing 40 different countries, whose efforts to support JustWorld’s projects have raised in excess of $6 million to date.
“After developing our activities in North America, we wanted to come back and develop in Europe” explains Jessica Newman, Executive Director and co-founder of the humanitarian association. “La Baule is the greatest opportunity for us to raise awareness among the public and the riders. It is a privilege to be supported by one of the biggest and most prestigious equestrian show Jumping events in France!”


From Thursday May 15th to Sunday May 18th, JustWorld volunteers will raise awareness to the public at La Baule about JustWorld projects by presenting the programs currently being funded in Guatemala, Honduras, Cambodia and Colombia. Each day, the public will be able to participate in drawings with many fantastic prizes to win including VIP tickets for the CSIO 5* La Baule, the opportunity to walk a course with a famous top rider, horse and rider equipment offered by JustWorld’s partners, an FEI Yearbook signed by the 30 best riders in the world… Tickets will be sold by JustWorld at the entrance booths and by volunteers walking around the show grounds. All the funds raised will directly benefit the association.
Four JustWorld Riders Ambassadors will be competing at the show: Daniel Bluman & René Lopez (COL), Kevin Staut & Philippe Rozier (FRA).




As usual, the press conference of the Longines Jumping International de La Baule started the countdown to the event. Monday 28th April revealed the new program of the 2014 edition of the Jumping of La Baule, in the presence of Jacques Robert (Vice-President of the French Equestrian Federation), Yves Métaireau (Mayor of La Baule and President of Cap Atlantic), Rémi Cléro (President of Longines Jumping International de La Baule), Dominique Tremblay (Regional Advisor of Pays de la Loire) and Nadia Poirier (event’s director).
Yves Métaireau opened the conference by thanking the organizing team, the present institutions and International Equestrian Federation which allows each year to provide a single event in the CSIO 5* de France: the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup presented by Longines.


Rémi Cléro recalled the importance of the 2014 edition, as a prologue to the World Equestrian Games in Normandie, which will welcome the best of the discipline in La Baule. For its third year, the President of the Jumping announces a balanced budget and shares this success with his team, the hundred of volunteers, all the people involved, institutions and loyal partners including 7 newcomers: Ekeep, Free Jump, Ikonic Saddlery, Lexus, Oazure Villa Maurice, Résidence Adonis and Yu Sports.


After reaffirming the support of the FFE to the organizing team and congratulating the event of La Baule for its international reputation, Jacques Robert has unveiled the 18 French riders competing in La Baule:

Nadia Poirier recalled the highlights of the 2014 edition, which will be the second leg of the European Division 1 of the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup series and the second leg of FFE French Tour Generali.
The Longines Jumping International de La Baule will offer three competitions of different levels:

- The prestigious CSIO 5* de France: 65 riders and 180 horses among the world’s bestof the discipline.
15 nations: Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Spain, USA, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Morocco, Netherlands, Switzerland, Venezuela.
- The CSI 1*: 47 amateur riders and 59 horses.
10 nations: Brazil, Canada, Spain, USA, France, Great Britain, Morocco, Netherlands, Portugal, Venezuela.
- Para-equestrian competitions: 30 riders and 32 horses.
5 nations: Germany, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Morocco.

Three highlights:
- The Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup presented by Longines (CSIO 5*, Friday 16th May at 1.45 pm) qualifying leg for the World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Normandie.
8 teams competing: Belgium, Brazil, Spain, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Netherlands, Switzerland.
- The Derby Meeting of Pays de la Loire (CSIO 5*, Saturday 17th May at 1.00 pm), a redesigned course thanks to the restoration of the natural fences.
- Grand Prix Longines of La Baule (Sunday 18th May at 12.30 pm), qualifying leg for the WEG, only for the top 50 couples of the CSIO 5* de France.


Nadia Poirier announced the arrival of Patrick Caron in the organizing team of the Longines Jumping International de La Baule. Member of the Jumping French team by the past, then national coach in 1985 with more than 100 medals won in 14 years (World championships, European championships, World cups, Olympic Games...), now coach, Patrick Caron became the Sport Director of the Jumping of La Baule.


To support the top level sport, actions for breeding, and to promote the entire equine industry of Pays de la Loire internationally, Dominique Tremblay announced the signature of an agreement between the Region and the Longines Jumping International de La Baule for a period of 3 years; an agreement that is registered as a recognition and a trust mark from the President of the Regional Council, Jacques Auxiette, to the key players iof the equestrian sector.

CSIO 5* of France: 8 teams for the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup

Sponsored by the Saudi Equestrian Fund Furusiyya since 2013, the prestigious FEI Nations Cup series has begun in February in Al Ain (UAE). With 20 legs in this year’s calendar, the world’s top best riders of show jumping are back on the road and competing world wide for these precious points in order to qualify for the world finale in Barcelona (9th-12th October).

After Lummen (BEL) 2nd May, the Longines Jumping International of La Baule (CSIO 5* of France) will set the second big moment of the European Division 1 of this elite series.
Winners of the 2013 finale, the French will come with a strong team to La Baule, chosen among other events to win points. Big favorites of the Nations Cup but also for the FEI Alltech™ World Equestrian Games 2014 in Normandy, the French led by national coach Philippe Guerdat will once again thrill the faithful and numerous public in the stadium François André.

Belgium, Spain, Ireland, Switzerland will also take part in the race for points of La Baule.

Brazil, the Netherlands and Great-Britain will join the competition.

About the race for points: the French Nations Cup in 2014

The French team will compete in the CSIO 5* of Lummen (BEL, 30th April - 5th May), of La Baule (FRA, 15th-18th May), of Rome (ITA, 18th-22nd June), in order to try and qualify for the world’s finale.

About the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup of La Baule
Class with two rounds with identical courses . On the 4 team members, only the points of the best 3 couples are taken into account. The winning team is the one that will finish with the least or no penalty points, after the 2 rounds.
In case of tired entries after the 2nd round, the jump-off settles the winner.

About the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup series
40 countries competing in 2013. The teams of the European Division 1 need to participate in 4 legs of the circuit in order to qualify for the finale. 18 teams will compete in the finale (19 team if the country organizing the finale isn’t qualified) :
9 for Europe (7 in Division 1 and 2 in Division 2), 1 team for Africa and 2 teams for each of the following regions: North America, Central America and the Carribeans / South America / Middle East / Asia and Australasia.

The world of show jumping meets at La Baule

From May 15th to 18th, the best riders and horses in the world will gather at the Longines Jumping International of La Baule, which is to horse riding what Roland Garros is to tennis, 6 Nations tournament is to rugby, or the Tour de France is to cycling. Each year, more than 14 million viewers and 27 000 people in the stadium André François follow the performances of the greatest champions of show jumping.
2014 should not fail to tradition, with three different events organized in this new edition with € 580,000 of prize money.

The CSIO 5* of France: 9 classes, € 546 000 of prize money

Twenty nations represented by the best in the discipline, will take part in the only CSIO 5 * in France, the second leg of the European Division 1 of the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup series, and also the second leg of FFE French Tour circuit which brings together five 5 stars events (Bordeaux, La Baule, Cannes, Chantilly, Lyon). Three competitions will be the highlights of the CSIO 5 * of France:

- Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup presented by Longines (Friday 16th May 2014, at 1.55pm) Winners of last year’s world final, France will enter with a strong team, who chose La Baule to earn points for the 2014 final in Barcelona (9th-12th October).

- The Derby Meeting of Pays de la Loire (Saturday 17th May 2014 at 1.05pm). A rare and spectacular event where the riders will compete on a new course, mixing traditional fences and natural fixed fences.

- The Grand Prix Longines of La Baule (Sunday 18th May 2014, at 12.30pm), reserved for the 50 best couples of the 4 days.

The CSI *: 8 classes, € 34 000 of prize money

These classes, between 1.10m and 1.30m high, will see future riders, some celebrities but also experienced riders take part. While some will prepare the young horses, others will take this opportunity to compete in under the conditions of the high level.

Para-equestrian competitions Cap Atlantique & AMP: 2 classes

These classes scheduled on Friday 16th May at 5.45pm, and Saturday 17th May at 6.30pm, will welcome riders affected by the accidents of life, deprived of leg or arm, deaf, hemiplegia, paraplegia and even blind, a new opportunity to watch these unusual sports men and women while conveying the key messages of integration around a single passion.
